About CDS (Combine Defense Services ) Exam
CDS Exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) for the officer’s post in Indian Defense Services.This exam is conducted for entry into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. Once a student qualifies his written exam he/she need to go through SSB Interview in respective SSB centers based upon the preference of the student for different services.

Education & Age Eligibility criteria for CDS Exam.
Air Force Academy – Candidates willing to apply for Air force academy should have studied Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level along with a degree from recognized university or bachelor degree in engineering /technology. Women candidates can not apply for Air force academy.
Indian Military Academy -Aspirants willing to apply of Indian military academy through CDS 1 2015 examination should have a degree from recognized university.
Naval Academy – Aspirants applying for Indian naval academy should have engineering degree from any recognized university or institute
Officer Training Academy – All other men candidates as well as women candidates applying for Officers training academy should have a degree to qualify for minimum educational qualification required by UPSC to fill application form of CDS 1 2015
Age limit for CDS Exam Candidates
IMA – Unmarried male candidates,19 to 24 Years.
INA – Unmarried male candidates. 19 to 22 Years.
AFA – Unmarried male candidates.19 to 24 Years.
OTA SSC course Men – Male candidates (Married or unmarried). 19 to 25 Years.
OTA (SSC Women Non-technical course ) – Unmarried women and issue less widow. 19 to 25 Years.

What is NDA
- NDA stands for National Defence Academy, a premier Joint Services Institution of Indian Armed Forces, for producing cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force are trained together with mental, moral and physical attributes before going to pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies. Their intensive education programme includes Science, Technology, Arts and Military subjects. In three years, student is transformed into a potential officer and a gentleman. National Defence Academy, which is the first tri-service academy in the world is located south-west of Pune city and north-west of Khadakwasla Lake on 7015 acres of land.
About NDA Exam
- Student must appear in NDA entrance exam held twice a year (Apr-May & Sept & Oct) by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Educational
- For Army Wing – Class XII by a State Education Board or a University
- For Air Force and Naval Wings – The candidate must have passed class XII with physics and mathematics as main subjects.
- Age: The candidate must be of 16.5 to 19 years of age.
Scheme of exam:
- Admissions to the NDA are made through written exam followed by extensive interviews covering general aptitude, psychological testing, team-building skills along with physical and social skills and medical tests.

NDA Preparation tips:
To excel in the exam here are a few tips that you can follow.
- Getting your basics right: Since a lot of topics are covered in the exam, its best to keep them prepared. Study your class X books from Geography to History.
- Getting your English right: Work on the foundation of your English writing and speaking skills, work on your grammar, since the exam has section of English it’s better to prepare it. Also, speaking good English will help you in interview.
- Start working on your health: To get through the latter two stages of the exam you must be absolutely fit, and health is not something that can be built in a matter of days, you have to continuously work at it.
- Setting a time table for everything: time is everything when you have so much on plate, learn effective time management techniques.
- Read Newspaper on a daily basis: Reading aloud has massive improvement in English speaking skills; also it will help with hesitation in public speaking which few people might have. The other benefit is that you will stay afloat on general education and current affairs that will help you with written and interview.
